Abstract:

Download, unzip, and run the attached TopICDCrosswalk.zip file to determine the most used ICD-9 codes in your practice. This information can help you prepare for the transition to using ICD-10.

  1. Download and unzip the TopICDCrosswalk.zip file attached to this article.
  2. Double-click the TopICDCrosswalk.exe file that you unzipped in step 1.
  3. Select a start and end Date Range to view ICD-9 codes billed during a specific time period.
  4. Select if you want to view ICD-9 codes billed through ExamWRITER (From ExamWRITER Only) or OfficeMate or Eyefinity EHR (From OfficeMate or EEHR Only).
  5. If you only want to view individual patients and the codes that they were billed, select the Calculate Unique Patients Only check box. Selecting this check box can help you identify specific patients and the codes that they were billed so that, if necessary, you can fix any coding issues in their exams and correct meaningful use calculations.

  7. Click OK when the warning message appears.
The ICD-9 codes that you billed during the date range that you selected in step 3 are displayed.
  8. If desired, click Print Version to save the results in a CSV file (C:\topicdcrosswalk.csv).
  9. Right-click on the ICD-9 codes in the Results to view the ICD-10 equivalent codes.
  10. Click the + (plus) sign next to the ICD-9 codes in the Results to view the patients for whom you billed the codes.
