SATO CX400 is Not Backfeeding Labels or Labels are Printing too Dark

Abstract:

If you are using the SATO CX400 barcode printer with OfficeMate to print barcode labels and

  • the labels are too dark, or
  • two labels print instead of one because the printer is not backfeeding labels,

then follow the instructions below:

  1. Open OfficeMate Administration.
  2. Click Setup and select Product Setup.
  3. Click the Preferences tab.
  4. Note the printer's Comm Port for Barcode Printer.
  5. Close OfficeMate (or, if you are using OfficeMate Enterprise, open Home Office).
  6. Click https://s3.amazonaws.com/OMEW/SatoConfig.exe.
  7. Click Save.
  8. Navigate to the location where you want to save the SATO CX400 Configuration Tool (most likely, your OfficeMate Updates folder).
  9. Click Save.
  10. Navigate to the OfficeMate Updates folder on your computer. If your temporary location has a different name, navigate to that folder.
  11. Double-click SatoConfig.exe.
  12. Click Run.
  13. Ensure that the printer is connected to the PC with a null model serial cable and the power light is on and click OK.
  14. Type the COM port for the printer that you identified in step 4 above in the text box.
  15. To enable backfeed so that the printer only prints one label at a time, click Add Backfeed.
  16. To set the level of darkness for the labels, move the slider bar to the desired level of darkness and then click Set Darkness.
    Note: We recommend setting the darkness level at 1.
  17. Click the X in the upper right corner of the window to close the SATO CX400 Configurat
